Sendwave, the international money transfer platform founded in 2014, officially joins as a new sponsor of the U.S. Hispanic Women’s Chamber of Commerce, strengthening our commitment to Hispanic communities, migrant families, and women entrepreneurs who maintain active economic ties between the United States and Latin America.
A story born from a real need
Sendwave was created by Drew Durbin and Lincoln Quirk, who met at Brown University. The idea emerged from a very concrete frustration: sending money abroad was slow, expensive, and inaccessible. Durbin, who managed an NGO in Tanzania, experienced firsthand the obstacles of traditional remittance systems.
Thus, Sendwave was born with a clear goal: to make sending money as simple as sending a text message.
What makes Sendwave different
Since its launch, Sendwave has challenged the traditional remittance model by focusing on three key pillars:
- 100% digital approach: direct integration with banks and mobile wallets such as M-Pesa, Nequi, and Daviplata.
- Zero or very low fees: ideal for small and frequent transfers.
- Speed: money arrives within seconds, directly to the recipient.
Today, more than 1 million users trust Sendwave, a brand operated by Zepz and authorized for transfers in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.
